Queen’s Jubilee-inspired family get together

This past weekend I hosted a family braai (BBQ) for twenty very special members of my family, some of whom had not seen each other for over thirty years!

As a warm up for our forthcoming street party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee we went for a “Rule, Britannia” inspired theme.  Think loads of bunting, red and white ginham tablecloth, Radley’s Jubilee cake stand, cupcakes, corgi crackers, and wildflowers from outside my front door… all in our patriotic colours of red, white and blue.

A truly splendid day was had by all.  Here are some of the photos:

Queen’s Diamond Jubilee - update on plans for a street party

Plans are going smoothly for our street party in early June to celebrate the Queen’s diamond Jubilee.  We are all meeting again tomorrow night at the local pub to finalise the logisitics and catering.

My fabulous mum (who will be attending the party) has found some really fun decorative stuff to bring the party to life, including corgi crackers, flags, bunting, Union Jack tablecloth AND cupcake wrappers!

I am ordering some additional bunting this morning so that we have enough for the back garden.  I plan to test drive it all this weekend as I am hosting a big family BBQ and my mother insisted on a rule-Brittannia theme!  She is such a Royalist-geek.
